Choir Information:   Last update  April 22nd 2025

Latest News:

The choir are  having a break  for Easter and will return on April 29th.

All this year's Mod songs are now online on our website. including all choral parts , Gaelic and words plus translations. I have noted one or two notes are not heard on some of the songs for some as yet unknown reason probably to do with the Midi file. There are only a few.

The choir returned for the new session  on Tuesday 28th January at 8pm. The first committee meeting  takes place on Tuesday  4th February at 7pm. The proposed date for the choir AGM is February 25h at 8pm till 8:30pm followed by the usual practice session. The choir will be very happy to see new members at the choir sessions and they will be made very welcome.

The songs for the 2025 Fort William Mod are now online on our website. Choir members can go to the Music tab and check them out. I have split up the Puirt  into Strathspey and Reel pages. Also included is the Taynuilt Gaelic Choir singing the Puirt. You will be able to skip the Youtube adverts after a few seconds. I think it is the same version as we will be singing this year.  It will give you  an idea of how the Puirt  sounds. The prescribed piece "Chì mi na Mòr Bheanna" is a totally new arrangement.

As always the choir is looking for new members and if you are interested in singing choral Gaelic songs whether you are Soprano, Alto, Tenor or Bass, please come along to any of our sessions on Tuesday evenings  at the Skye Bible Church , Bayfield Road, Portree, down the lane at the back of Boots the Chemist. Practices take place every Tuesday from 8pm till 10pm. Prior knowledge of Gaelic is not necessary as the Gaelic tutor will teach you the word pronunciations and meanings.  The main focus of the choir is to compete at the Royal National Mod to be held this year in  October in Fort William.
